First, we visit your web site to understand the complexity of the job. We download the complete site and make a detailed quote analysing each page. If there are parts we cannot access, we contact your website designer.

No, we don't use machine translation and we usually suggest customers to test the results for themselves before deciding to use these software programs. You can choose a text in English and use software to translate it into Spanish. What you usually get are meaningless texts, full of mistakes. We do, however, use a variety of glossaries and tools to assist our translators in producing consistent, reliable and high quality work.

Translation Memory, TM, is a tool that allows translators to reuse previously translated phrases and sentences. This technology enables translators to store translated phrases and sentences in a special database. It also enables translators to estimate the size of the translation and the number of internal repetitions. In this way,  we can organize the translation project, assure coherence and lower costs.

:: What is the difference between translation memory and machine translation?

The major difference is that in machine translation a computer translates the text delivering meaningless sentences, while in translation memory systems, the computer only stores previously translated segments. It is a helpful tool for translators to organize our work and maintain coherence throughout different projects.

:: What are fuzzy matches?

This is an analysis made by the software by comparing previously translated segments with a new text. In this way, you get the number of coincidences found and the degree of matches. You get discounts on high matches.

:: What is DTP?

DTP stands for desktop publishing. It involves formatting the layout of the translated text, including its images and graphics.

:: What is text expansion?

Text expansion occurs when the target language requires more text or longer words than the source language. This is usually the case when translating from English into Spanish.

Translations are delivered in the requested format. In the case of websites, we upload the translated version to an FTP folder.
